Blogging. What a strange word. I have always disliked the words blog and blogging. But, despite my personal dislike for the words the relevance of what it stands for is quite amazing, when it comes to how it helps properly engineered websites dominate the search engine frontier.

I commonly refer to blogs as articles, stories, or updates. A good blog can be about almost anything of interest. Blogs can be craftily categorized and then sorted with in your website so that relative blogs show up under the focused subtitle which makes keeping types of blogs easy to organize or for human viewing and interaction. One of the most important elements of good blogging for SEO value is attaching keywords, meta tags and using a good image with proper naming. This strategy greatly improves your website’s global keyword depth as well as the concentration of keywords. All valuable assets to your website’s ability to gain better positioning. As a website developer, I look at a lot of business websites. Many times if they have a blog area, it’s outdated, not kept up with or is on another site altogether. For example, don’t have a blogger site with your blogs that are only linked by one button or menu link. Don’t go through all the trouble and effort to have blogs within your website and not have keywords or categories. These two examples mean that you have done all the hard work but are reaping none of the benefits.
Think of blogging like fishing. Do you want to increase your chances of catching a fish? Then don’t use just one line out of your boat. Put ten lines in the water and then you have ten chances to catch something. Each blog posts you publish has it’s own unique words in it, however, be sure to include your websites focus keywords as part of the post. The blog post will be indexed by search engines and one day, when someone is searching for what your blog post is about, they will find your post. This link in Google brings them to your blog post and to your website. There is where you leverage your marketing!!!
Make sure your blog post is readable as part of your website. For example, the top of the blog post page has your logo, your slogan, your address, your phone number and some call to action… Make sure along the sides, if you sell a product, your products are just one click away. You are essentially advertising your own products and or services here. When your blog post is not integrated into your website, you lose all this potential.
Blog quality & frequency – This is important for two reasons.
#1 Quality: People will judge you on everything. How your website looks, your use of punctuation and grammar. Your topic and information. “hey if you right like a like a teenager txtn, lol, haha, wth“ (that was an example) you will lose business unless of course your marketing to teenagers… So match your prospects the best you can. Try not to turn them off.
#2 Frequency: You will also be judged by your blog frequency. If your last blog post was from 2013 and it said welcome to our new website, check back soon as we are constantly updating our blog, then you are really telling readers and prospects that you don’t follow-through. You’re also telling your customers that you don’t keep up and have no idea what you are doing. They will see that you are not someone they want to do business with. If you can’t keep your blogs to at least once every three months, just take them off already and get out of the blogging game because you’re making yourself look bad.
